Reports from Nürnberg

It’s spring in the air, and here at Casablanca, a small independent theatre in the Bavarian region, important things are slowly growing.

Casablanca is one of those amazing truly independent theaters which are run by real enthusiast, who has a vision and motivation above the usual. It’s amazing to have the Deutschland-premiere of Nasty Old People in a context like this, where the same spirit rules as on kontrapunkt in Malmö.

Those who run Casablanca started a year ago with a theatre in disrepair and begun to renovate. Today they have lots of members and volunteers who builds, paints and renovates together for free, and thereby they put the marks of their hands and spirits into the walls. And you definitely feel this is a place run by visions and love, while watching the movie.

The two screenings we had so far went great, many people came and many questions were asked. In two weeks there will be more screenings. There were no entrance fee, the audience could donate to contribute to the bank loan, and afterwards we had some really nice discussions in the bar – both about the movie, but also about free art and culture.

Lost in Berlin

The first day in Berlin I was lost in the U-bahn, and happened to meet Zineb, also lost in the U-bahn. It turned out Zineb studies to become a producer / distributer and was on her way to write an article about alternative distribution, and we set up time for an interview. And as usual it turned out to be one of those meetings in life that just happens when you’re somewhat lost. This is not only true for when you’re lost in time and space, but also when the next step into the future is not quite clear. Not to know can be the best way to find a new and exciting path.

I have just come home from an amazing screening at Gothenburg film festival and a visit at Berlinale, and it’s really great to notice that many people have heard about the movie in many different ways. This means you guys did a great job spreading the word, thank you so much for that!

Next step is a film festival in Milano, Squardi Altrove, two weeks at a cinema in Ukraine starting tomorrow and after this at cinema in Nürnberg, Casablanca.

In March there will be a press screening and press conference in Kiev, and screenings in Sweden in Sunne and Södertälje. We’re also making planes for screenings in Finland and Hungary.

Nordic Film Lab

I’m on my way through a snowy but sunny Sweden from Stockholm to Gothenburg for the screening of Nasty Old People on Gothenburg film festival.

Even though we wasn´t nominated to the people´s prize of “guldbaggen” it was still kind of amazing to take part at guldbaggen two days ago. Now it´s two and a half year since I took the bank loan and started the shooting. Somehow it´s a long time ago, and at the same time so short!

When I evaluate this time, I’m damn sure it´s worth every second.

Now I’ll also take part in Nordic Film Lab at Gothenburg filmfestival and I’ll present myself and Nasty. And I have decided to focus on Creative Common, since I have realized not many in the film industry know about the CC-licens, and I truly belive this is the future, and something deeply important to us as creators.

So, I´ll get back to you about what happens, mean while, keep seeding and spread the word.

We’re working on a date for screening in Rome to.

Meanwhile the work with the new script continues. I’ll go to London to take part in the second part of Sources 2, an international screenwriting workshop, and hopefully take the script on step forward. We’re hoping to start the shooting at spring 2011.

The casting to a short which will be shoot during this spring has also begun.

Reports from Russia and new subs!

Today I got a nice report from Malky about what´s happening on the Russian trackers. There are three different torrents of the movie on torrents.ru, and it´s also seeded from http://kinozal.tv/details.php?id=434530, another popular Russian tracker.

In RUSSIA!!!

Today, and for five days, Nasty Old People will be on the front-page of the biggest Russian torrentsite torrents.ru! This happens thanks to Malky, and we´re all very grateful to him!

To all users on torrents.ru: Nasty Old People is a Swedish independent film that started with a bank loan of 10 000 Euro and had premiere with a Creative Common - license on The Pirate Bay.

Through The Pirate Bay the movie has spread to lots of countries and it has been downloaded over 40 000 times. Users on the site and other torrent-sites has translated the subtitles to 10 different languages and today the movie is downloaded by independent cinemas. Last week Nasty Old People was shown at cinemas in Lund, Gothenburgh and Stockholm, and in the spring it will be shown in Ukraina, Germany an Italy.

The movie has actually already been screend in Vladivostok!!

No one in the team got paid during the shooting and therefore we have a paypal account where you as a user can support us and help us pay the bank loan, but also support the team and the actors so that we hopefully can make new films in the future.Until today we have received 3 500 Euro.
