Today I got a nice report from Malky about what´s happening on the Russian trackers. There are three different torrents of the movie on torrents.ru, and it´s also seeded from http://kinozal.tv/details.php?id=434530, another popular Russian tracker.
Some reviews:
“The film balances between a black comedy and a drama..”
"The movie is very extraordinary and realistic"
Malkey is also seeding in Ukraine, at http://torrents.net.ua/forum/viewtopic.php?t=279128 Thank you for that!
All together the movie has about 1000 downloads on those trackers all together so far.
"Nasty Old People have also appeared on kinopoisk.ru ( "cinema
search") It's russian alternative for imdb:

I´m also happy to let you know that we now have Hungarian subtitles, translated by Lelkidoki, and Serbian thanks to Petar Protic! Thank you a thousand times!!

ReplyDeleteThank you for making this film and setting it free!
ReplyDeleteI actually expected a film of moderate quality about a person who evolves from the Bad to the Good -- a cliche which could only be repeated well or not too well, but anyway without adding anything new.
Fortunately, this film portrayed Nazis almost without attitude so that the viewer can judge on their own. It is great that there are no "good", "bad" and "transitional" characters: they are all complex, they are all taken from real life.
Ironically, the aggression in both old and young people has the same roots. Each of them creates a simplified picture of the world behind which (s)he attempts to hide all his/her fears. The frightened animals bite because they are afraid, not because they are inherently evil or something. Like the Nazi, like Märta, like Harald...
Mette succeeds in helping herself and others because she isn't afraid. But there's no simple solution anyway.
In some sense this film resembles works by Lynch (from Eraserhead to Straight Story), e.g. the plot is non-linear (or "not too linear") and the subject is deeply personal. However, at the same time this film is more natural and does not look like an integral and finite story while watching, -- it looks like a window into someone's life and you don't expect the puzzle to fall into place at the end because we don't think about the end when we live. (Those who do can't even finish a page.)
There are minor glitches (such as non-realistic fight scenes, the "dead" old man closing his eyes moments before Mette does it with her hand, etc.), but these tiny issues are not important. All main actors played very well, really well. Especially I liked Febe's acting: 100% believable, with tender melancholic irony in the eyes :)
(that was another comment from Russia. :)
Wow, thank you so much for those words!
